Driving Change: First Bus in Somerset teams up with Youth Adventure Trust
First Bus in Somerset is proud to announce a new partnership with the Youth Adventure Trust (YAT), a youth development charity dedicated to empowering vulnerable young people through outdoor adventure and one-to-one support.
First Bus has a longstanding commitment to supporting its local communities and the partnership represents a shared aim of making a positive impact on the lives of young people in Somerset.
The YAT has recently expanded its Resilience Programme into Somerset, where First Bus serves communities across the county. The operator will use its Truronian coach business to support the Youth Adventure Trust’s activities, providing transport for young people to attend activity days.
These include the Resilience Programme’s Coastal Day, which takes young people from Somerset to Dorset, giving them challenges to encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and learn they can achieve more than they think.
First Bus in Somerset will also offer opportunities for young people to visit their depots to give valuable hands-on experience and an understanding of career paths in transport, a huge confidence and motivation boost for young people. First Bus colleagues are being invited to volunteer with the charity or participate in fundraising events in Somerset, raising funds to support the young people on YAT’s programmes.
James Eustace, Commercial Director of First Bus South, said:
"We are thrilled to partner with the Youth Adventure Trust to support their incredible work with young people in Somerset. At First Bus we believe in the power of connection—not just through our services but also by creating opportunities that help build stronger communities. This partnership is about ensuring that every young person has access to transformative experiences that inspire confidence, resilience, and a brighter future."
Emily Bull, Regional Fundraiser for the Youth Adventure Trust, said:
"We’re incredibly grateful to First Bus for supporting us with transport for our Coastal Day in May which will give vulnerable young people from Somerset access to a fantastic array of activities. We are looking forward to working with First Bus in the future to continue supporting young people in Somerset in 2025 and beyond."
